There are 83,000 ways of finishing a game of darts from 170! I wonder if anyone knows them all?
When between 130-110 and have 3 darts remaining, the choice of treble is crucial. Select one so that if you hit the single by mistake it leaves you on a two dart finish (numbers such as 110, 107, 104, 100, 98 or lower).
If you have 122 left and throw at T20 and hit the single 20 by mistake, you are left with 102 which you cannot finish in 2 darts. So go for T18 first - hitting single 18 leaves you a finish.
If your score is between 61-70 with 2 darts left, going for single then Bull always gives you the opportunity to check out a leg. The chances of hitting a treble are not the greatest compared to a single. I personally dont do this if I have 64 left as you can hit T16 or T8 to leave a finish.
If I have 3 darts left and I am in the low 100s then i usually go through the following process:
Can I get to 52 or below in one dart? This is so I can then go for a single number then D16 with remaining two darts.
Can I get to 60 or below with one dart? This is so that I can go for a single number then D20 with final two darts.
If not, then I generally look to get below 70 in one dart.
Then I can go for a single number then a Bull shot.
There are obviously exceptions to this but that is the general mind set I use.
